This position will be located on-site at UnitedHealth Group's office in either Minnetonka, MN or Hartford, CT and will have a hybrid work arrangement.

This Actuarial Analyst position will be supporting UnitedHealthcare's Employer & Individual (E&I) line of business and will be part of the Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP). The mission of the ALDP is to develop credentialed actuaries and equip them with the skills and experience to be UnitedHealth Group's future business leaders.  The program emphasizes education by encouraging and supporting the pursuit of the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation and continued training and development. The program builds relationships and experience by providing exposure to a broad range of challenges and businesses through various rotations, and career advancement is tied to the rotation process. As part of the ALDP, candidates have access to a wide range of resources including professional development, leadership development, exam/education support, and compensation awards tied to the SOA curriculum. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and submitting commercial rate filings, including Small Group ACA, Large Group, and others
  • Assist in developing rate recommendations to internal business leaders
  • Provide input on market strategy, including but not limited to competitive analysis, ad hoc actuarial studies, and other market specific projects
  • Perform pricing of new products and/or plan designs using the company's proprietary medical and pharmacy benefit pricing tool
  • Perform rate implementation by updating and maintaining the rating systems for both Small Group and Large Group

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related technical field from an accredited college/university
  • Currently in final year of obtaining a bachelor or master's degree from an accredited college/university or obtained degree within the last 24 months; degree must be obtained prior to start of employment
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of one or more actuarial exams
  • Previous actuarial internship experience or an internship in related field
  • Intermediate level of proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, calculations, pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.
  • Basic level of proficiency with MS Word and MS Access

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
