The Data Analyst II role within the Business Strategy & Intelligence (BSI) team is a high visibility, hands on analytics position supporting the Individual & Family Plans (IFP) business. This role is focused on building and sustaining executive level dashboards, performance reporting, and analytics products that directly inform strategic decision making across the organization.

In this role, you will transform complex, multi source data into clear, compelling, and executive ready insights. You will partner closely with business leaders, analysts, and data engineering teams to design reporting solutions that are not only accurate and scalable, but also intuitive and visually impactful. The dashboards and reports you create will be relied upon by senior stakeholders to understand performance, identify trends, and guide key business decisions.

A core expectation and defining feature of this position is its deep emphasis on Power BI. This role is ideal for someone who is highly experienced with Power BI and genuinely enjoys working in it. You will own the full lifecycle of Power BI solutions, from data modeling and DAX development to visualization design, performance optimization, deployment, and ongoing enhancement. Success in this role requires comfort using a broad range of Power BI features and a solid appreciation for clean design, usability, and effective data storytelling.

The Data Analyst II will also play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Market Intelligence Portal, a centralized analytics platform used across the IFP business. This includes ensuring report reliability, improving performance and usability, and continuously evolving visualizations as business needs change.

This position offers the opportunity to take true ownership of analytics products, develop deep technical expertise, and see your work directly influence leadership conversations. It is best suited for an analytical professional who values quality, takes pride in their work, thrives in a fast paced environment, and wants their dashboards and insights to matter.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and visualizations that are accurate, intuitive, and tailored for executive and senior leader consumption, supporting strategic and operational decision making
  • Use SQL to extract, validate, and optimize data from multiple source systems and enterprise data platforms to support reliable reporting and analytics solutions
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights and business narratives for stakeholders
  • Maintain and enhance the Market Intelligence Portal, ensuring dashboard performance, data reliability, and continuous improvements to reporting and visual storytelling
  • Leverage advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., complex formulas, Power Query, automation, and data modeling) to support analysis, data validation, and ad hoc reporting needs
  • Partner with data engineering and adjacent analytics teams to support end to end data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation, and modeling for scalable reporting and self service analytics
  • Apply AI  and automation enabled analytics where appropriate to improve insight generation, efficiency, and repeatability of reporting processes
  • Ensure data quality, reporting consistency, and adherence to governance and analytical best practices across all deliverables

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting roles, working with large or complex datasets to support business decision making
  • 4+ years of demonstrated advanced proficiency in Power BI, including hands on experience designing, developing, testing, and optimizing dashboards, reports, and data models using DAX and advanced visualization techniques
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL, with extracting, transforming, validating, and optimizing data from multiple data sources
  • 3+ years of demonstrated advanced experience using Power Query, pivot tables, automation, and complex analytical formulas
  • 2+ years of experience partnering on data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and scalable reporting solutions with working knowledge of data engineering concepts
  • Experience performing moderately complex analyses, including assessing data, identifying trends and issues, and interpreting results to support non standard business requests
  • Demonstrated experience assessing and interpreting stakeholder needs, translating analytical findings into clear explanations and insights for executive and non technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience working independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple analytical deliverables and prioritizing work in a fast paced environment
  • Willing and able to travel 10% +/- depending on business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience applying AI/ML concepts or tools to analytics, automation, forecasting, or insight generation
  • Experience serving as a resource to others, contributing to shared analytics tools, standardized dashboards, or reporting platforms
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or other regulated data environments
