Ready to make a difference? Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together

Navigating healthcare is complex, and our commitment is to make it simpler and more connected for our members. As Lead Product Manager, AI Market & Competitive Intelligence, you are the organization's external scan and strategic radar for AI. Your mission is to ensure our company's AI strategy is always a step ahead - grounded in actionable intelligence, not assumptions.

You own the identification and analysis of market trends, competitor moves, regulatory shifts, and cross-industry innovations. Your insights directly inform where our company should play and how we can win in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. You deliver market maps, competitive audits, and scenario analyses that shape AI strategy, investment priorities, and risk mitigation. By collaborating with Strategy, Product, and Brand teams, you ensure our company's AI roadmap is informed by the latest external signals and benchmarks, and that our investments are focused on what will truly differentiate us.

You are the connective tissue between what's happening outside our company and how we respond internally. You translate complex market signals into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders-enabling evidence-based prioritization, smarter investments, and faster adaptation to disruption. Your stewardship of competitive intelligence ensures we concentrate capital on the most accretive opportunities, decommission duplicative efforts, and keep our enterprise platform resilient, compliant, and future-ready.

Your role is pivotal in shaping our company's strategic posture in the AI marketplace. You proactively monitor emerging technologies, new entrants, and shifting regulatory landscapes, anticipating both threats and opportunities before they materialize. You synthesize vast amounts of external data into concise, executive-ready insights that empower our company to make bold, informed decisions with confidence.

In addition to your analytical leadership, you play a key role in how our company crafts its AI vision and carves out a competitive advantage. You help craft compelling narratives and executive materials for both internal and external audiences, ensuring every announcement and message reflects the innovation, trust, and member impact that set UnitedHealthcare apart. You partner with communications and product marketing teams to ensure our competitive strengths and differentiators are clearly articulated in the marketplace.

By orchestrating the right mix of intelligence gathering, strategic analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, you empower our company to anticipate market shifts, outpace competitors, and deliver intelligent, personalized care experiences that matter most to our members. Your work ensures that UnitedHealthcare is not only responsive to the AI landscape-but is actively shaping it for the benefit of those we serve.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, interpretation and monitoring of emerging technologies, competitor strategies, regulatory developments, weak signals, and innovations, across healthcare, technology, retail and adjacent industries
  • Develop market landscapes, competitive benchmarks, and scenario analyses that inform enterprise level decisions about where to buy, build, partner, or wait-grounded in evidence, not assumptions
  • Influence enterprise decisions on build vs. buy vs. partner by illuminating market maturity, capability differentiation, ecosystem dynamics, and long-term strategic fit by informing cost benefit and tradeoff analyses
  • Qualify and quantify partnership value, drive interoperability and governance, and steward the vendor and partnership ecosystem to concentrate capital on the most accretive solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Security to turn market opportunities into measurable value-speed to value, total cost of ownership, and benefit realization
  • Support evidence-based prioritization and investment decisions, ensuring every partnership and technology choice is grounded in measurable impact for members and the enterprise
  • Lead the development of clear, compelling narratives about our company's AI investments for both internal and external audiences, ensuring all communications reflect the shared value, innovation, and trust delivered to UnitedHealthcare and those we serve
  • Translate market intelligence into executive ready insights, narratives, and recommendations that support evidence-based prioritization, investment planning, and long term AI strategy
  • Drive the decommissioning of duplicative technologies and the adoption of scalable, sustainable solutions that empower teams to deliver intelligent, personalized care experiences

Measures of Success:

  • Documented acceleration of time-to-value and measurable benefit realization from AI partnerships and investments
  • Increased adoption of scalable, responsible AI solutions across member, advocate, and broker experiences
  • Positive feedback from senior executives on the quality and impact of external communications and partnership materials
  • Successful decommissioning of duplicative technologies and concentration of capital on high-impact solutions
  • Evidence of our company's leadership and innovation in AI as reflected in market perception, partnership opportunities, and industry recognition

Competencies & Best Practices:

  • Strategic Communication: Crafts clear, compelling narratives that build trust and inspire action among internal and external stakeholders
  • Ecosystem Mindset: Navigates complex vendor and partnership landscapes to maximize value and accelerate innovation
  • Analytical Rigor: Applies evidence-based frameworks to prioritize investments and measure outcomes
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Builds strong relationships across Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Security to drive alignment and execution
  • Change Leadership: Champions the adoption of new technologies and ways of working, empowering teams to deliver personalized, intelligent care
  • Brand Stewardship: Ensures all messaging and external engagements reflect our company's values, innovation, and commitment to members

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
