This individual contributor role is responsible for executing against the digital product strategy and vision outlined by the Product Management team for our Medicare online shopping experiences. You will work with key business and technical stakeholders to define, document, and prioritize new digital products and existing digital product enhancements. Manage priorities and obstacles. Escalate issues. Share responsibility with scrum team on delivering high quality product launches and enhancements. Work closely with technical team. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

Position background: This position is for a Digital Product owner / analyst that will be bridging the gap between business and development teams, ensuring that the digital product(s) or service(s) being built align with business goals and deliver value.

The Digital Product Owner will work with UHC scrum team(s) & quality assurance and technical experts as well as many business stakeholders, business owners, other digital product managers, Marketing team members, Telesales, and Call Center team members.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Product owner:
    • Complete pre-sprint planning activities, working with the Digital Product Manager and Digital Product Analyst
    • Collaborate with Scrum Master for sprint & release planning, create and maintain a robust backlog, set daily stand-up meetings, weekly grooming sessions, and retrospective
    • Feature creation, including providing supportive information, articulating definitions (acceptance criteria) and requirements to assist the team(s) with feature sizing and overall development
    • User Story creation to provide detailed information to define acceptance criteria and ensure seamless handoff to scrum team
    • Attend daily scrum calls to monitor each phase of the product development cycle, prioritize defects, rely important information to scrum team, assist to any questions/unknowns that appear, review test scripts, participate in testing efforts with QA&E and provide final sign off that team user stories meet the given acceptance criteria
    • Backlog Management and Prioritization: Ensures that the development team is always working on the most important tasks, maximizing value delivery to the business
    • Stakeholder engagements and communication. Keeping stakeholders informed and involved in the process ensures that the product aligns with business objectives and consumer needs
    • Sprint Planning and collaboration with development teams: close collaboration ensures the development team has clear direction and can work efficiently, while also fostering a continuous feedback loop
    • Set, invite, and lead digital product demos to key stakeholders
    • Communicate any business process changes, escalations, blockers, delays to stakeholders
    • Participate in post release testing (PAT) & Post Health Checks
  • Product analyst:
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions
    • Experience in designing and interpreting A/B tests and experiments
    • Familiarity with product metrics and KPIs (e.g., engagement, retention, conversion)
    • Product Vision and Strategy. A strong product vision provides clear direction, unifies the team and ensures that the product is development with a focus on long-term nosiness success
    • Data driven decision making and feedback loops. Data driven decision making helps ensure that product adjustments and based on fact

Required Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience using Agile methodology 
  • 2+ years of experience in ecommerce and/or digital roles
  • Experience with Agile software development processes.  Formal experience with one or more recognized Agile methodologies (Lean, SaFE, etc)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Health care experience or experience in other interactive and digital industries such as retail and financial services or digital agencies
  • Experience implementing machine learning / AI driven applications
  • Experience as a product owner or analyst that has documented requirements
  • Experience working successfully in a large, matrixed organization
  • Experience coordinating priorities and contributions of a network of stakeholders from across a large, diverse organization
  • Experience delivering web experiences, both consumer and non-consumer facing, that meet user needs based on usability research, UX design and information architecture principles, and product management methodologies
  • Experience working collaboratively at all levels and across business lines using influencing skills
  • Proven organization skills with ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize deliverables
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships to establish trust and credibility across a matrixed, cross-functional team
  • Solid communication skills, including written, spoken, and presentation communications

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
