At UnitedHealthcare, actuarial expertise drives decisions that help shape the future of health care. As a Sr. Actuarial Analyst on the UHC Community and State Finance team, you'll apply advanced analytics to Medicaid risk adjustment, uncover insights behind risk score performance and morbidity trends, and translate complex data into meaningful recommendations for leaders across the business. This role is an opportunity to grow your actuarial career while partnering with finance, operations, technology, and actuarial teams to solve challenging problems, improve processes, and support strategies that make health care work better for everyone. This role is part of our Actuarial Leadership Development Program.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. The preferred location for this office is the Minnetonka, MN office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Medicaid risk adjustment analytics, reporting, and dashboards
- Analyze risk score performance, morbidity trends, and revenue impacts across markets
- Partner with actuarial, finance, operations, and technology teams to support business decisions
- Identify data issues, perform root-cause analyses, and recommend solutions
- Present insights and recommendations to leadership and business partners
- Lead analytical projects and support process improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field
- Must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams
- 2+ years of healthcare analytics, actuarial, healthcare economics, or related experience
- Intermediate SQL and Excel skills
- Experience working with large healthcare datasets (claims, encounters, eligibility, membership, etc.)
- Proven solid analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medicaid managed care experience
- Risk adjustment experience (CDPS, HCC, or similar models)
- Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization experience
- Experience with provider coding, encounter data, or supplemental data programs
- Snowflake or R programming experience
- Experience presenting to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
