This strategic client facing position will have overall accountability for an assigned book of business of UnitedHealthcare Retiree Solutions clients. The primary responsibilities are to develop strategic relationships with clients, execute on exceeding their needs and expectations, and maintaining profitability and client retention. The Sr. SAE is responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction for their clients in partnership with internal resources including their Account Management Team.

The Sr. SAE is responsible for overall account ownership, growth, profitability of existing business, customer satisfaction and the strategic direction of their book of business. The Sr. SAE should have an understanding of each client's goals and barriers to their success. They are expected to be present in the market and attend board meetings (if applicable).

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted strategic advisor to assigned book of business through relationship development as the subject matter expert of UnitedHealthcare Retiree Solutions products
  • Provide strategy and oversight for implementation and on-going servicing for assigned book of business
  • Establish and execute strategic, customer specific initiatives, which deliver value added services through the execution of client specific business planning
  • Owns the client relationship, facilitates interaction with appropriate client contacts, decision makers, and brokers/consultants 
  • Identify new business on existing book of business opportunities through marketing, product, and service expansion 
  • Provide client insights through analysis and reporting via client executive performance reviews. Identify strategic opportunities through the understanding of data and analytics for assigned clients  
  • Maintain a high level of healthcare industry and Medicare knowledge, as well as client's industry· 
  • Work and strategize with Enterprise partners and functional areas when assigned like clients. Drive UHG growth solutions, look for opportunities and facilitate introductions
  • Coordinate and influence superior customer service delivery by developing and maintaining strong intercompany relationships
  • Consistently meet or exceed annual persistency, growth, profitability, and NPS goals through robust renewal planning. Identify cases that are at risk and develop strategy to mitigate risk
  • Demonstrate solid leadership qualities to lead the Account Management Team through exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Participates and leads the RFPs and finalist presentations for their specific accounts (NBEA & RFP situations)
  • Develop annual business plan and monitor progress
  • Ability to assess problems and implement solutions based on sound marketing, operational and financial principles
  • Ability to travel when needed for client and/or internal meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Life & Health State Insurance License or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • 7+ years of experience of meeting and/or exceeding client expectations associated with health insurance products or similar industry  
  • Advanced planning experience and achievement in identifying client needs and meeting deadlines
  • Advanced consultative selling and negotiation skills with the capability to effectively design solutions for complex clients
  • Proven solid relationship building, strategic focus, analytical, and project-management skills
  • Proven excellent presentation skills with the expertise and experience to credibly represent the Company

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
