Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement highly scalable and modular systems
- Influence overall product architecture and patterns
- Drive code reusability within and across organizations
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals: unit testing, code reviews, telemetry, agile and DevOps. Ensuring that mature DevOps practices are adopted within the organization
- Deeply investigate undefined business problems to identify key needs
- Incubate start-up culture by leading the way with prolific development of code
- Drive adoption of best practices and agreed upon design patterns
- Critically examine existing processes and systems and implement improvements
- Attract talent to the team through community involvement, keen interviewing skills, and training more junior interviewers
- Partner with business and technical leaders to manage project commitments in an agile framework, rapidly delivering value to our customers via technology solutions
- Mentor more junior members of the engineering team to develop and perform as highly as possible
- Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms, and be able to present and demonstrate work to technical and non-technical leadership
- Lead the design, build, and scaling of our backend data infrastructure (across data acquisition, pipelines, warehousing, etc.) using the latest data engineering technologies such that the data platform is reliable, extendable, and performant
- Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and operations teams to build best-in-class data applications that will support Optum's missions and goals
- Provide strategic and tactical recommendations for Product
- Create migration patterns and tools to quickly migrate databases into Distributed SQL environments, translate database requirements into flexible methodologies that scale to improve operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics

Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in software development with a focus on C#, ASP.NET, REST APIs, .NET Framework with WCF and Windows Form Development
- 7+ years of experience with SQL Server 2019, DML, SQL/T-SQL
- 7+ years of experience in software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, agile best-practices, and automated testing (XUnit/NUnit)
- 5+ years of experience in .NET CORE, S3 buckets, Kubernetes
- 5+ years of experience with Azure cloud services and managing cloud-based applications
- 5+ years of experience with Azure resources such as Azure Data Factory, Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus Queue, Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Monitor, Azure App Insights and creating effective Azure alerts and dashboards
- 5+ years of experience in Azure Event Hubs, Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance (MI)
- 3+ years of experience working on React with TypeScript
- 2+ years of experience in DevOps practices including continuous integration, continuous delivery using GitHub Actions
- 2+ years of experience using GitHub Copilot
- 1+ years of experience using AI tools like GenAI, Agentic AI, Microsoft Agentic Framework
- Ability to work standard daytime hours within the Central time zone, and occasional overtime per business need
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in debugging Azure SQL performance queries
- Experience with technologies such as: HTML/JavaScript, Python
- SRE principles (error budgets, alarming practices, etc.)
- Healthcare domain background

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
