The Licensed Practical Nurse assists in the care of patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care Functions
    • Interviews patients regarding medical concerns

    • Records vital signs and other health-related issues on patients' charts
    • Obtains patient medical histories

    • Reviews physician orders and lab requests and follows up as needed
    • Communicates test results to patients as directed
    • Calls in prescriptions/order refills as approved and directed
    • Assists in patient education with related educational tools, periodicals, flyers, and handouts
    • Assists with Department of Transportation, FMLA, and Medical Disability application forms
    • Triage patient telephone calls

  • Administrative Functions
    • Inputs data into the computer to maintain patient records
    • Routes necessary paperwork associated with patient referrals
    • Contacts other medical practices as needed to make referrals
    • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials
    • Pre-certifies exams and collects pre-certifications from managed care
    • Faxes reports
    • Performs daily refrigerator temperature checks and maintains accurate logs

  • Other Functions
    • Attends meetings and participates on committees as requested
    • Reviews current literature and attends training sessions and seminars to keep informed of new developments in the field
    • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as directed

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one year of related experience and/or training
  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program and a current unencumbered state license is required (or must have applied for transfer of license from another state)
  • BLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients
  • Knowledge of patient education principles
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate delegation
  • Knowledge of general insurance procedures
  • Knowledge of specific immunization guidelines for all ages
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail systems, and web-based programs
  • Proven skill in using various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures
  • Proven skill in taking vital signs
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people, both on a one-on-one basis and in meetings and group presentations; must be able to relate to and work with ill, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and react calmly to emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Demonstrated ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction
  • Demonstrated ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make appropriate decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The hourly pay for this role will range from $20 - $36 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
