The national vice president is responsible for establishing strategy and providing senior level oversight to achieve revenue and membership targets in a book of 1800+ skilled nursing and assisted living facilities across 30 states.

The role develops and implements initiatives to drive organic growth in a complex, highly competitive, and constantly changing external environment. Sustained growth occurs through the successful management of productivity in a direct-to-consumer environment, management of ongoing business to business relationships, adherence to state and federal regulations, and negotiation and partnership with internal teams who provide services to enable growth. These initiatives are managed through oversight of regional vice presidents (4-5) who individually manage hierarchies, including director level personnel as well as street level producers.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Establish annual budgets to deliver revenue and internal operating income (IOI) consistent with division goals
  • Spearhead growth plans at the national level to ensure revenue targets and financial targets (member months) are achieved
  • Provide senior level leadership to define and manage a national sales model that drives efficiency, consistency, and performance
  • Deploy resources nationally to maximize return on investment (personnel and spend)
  • Partner with finance organization to develop strategies through the effective use of analytics
  • Manage compliance and risk management through the effective training and oversight of compliance and quality metrics.  Partner with legal (internal UHG resources and outside counsel) to create effective strategies and to mitigate risk
  • Partner with senior level leaders in clinical, operations, product, and human capital to drive national cross functional initiatives
  • Oversee sales compensation plan and develop innovative strategies to ensure return on investment
  • Leads change management to build organizational understanding of proposed changes within the industry, organization, or department
  • Establishes and/or manages performance management programs and metrics
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the Institutional Special Needs Plan and the Medicare Marketing Guidelines
  • Responsible for designing strategies and processes to ensure effective acquisition of talent
  • Performs other job-related activities necessary to achieve budgeted targets

Job duties:

  • Management of financial reporting (budgeting and forecasting) on a quarterly basis
  • Ongoing development of senior level direct reports (regional vice presidents)
  • Development and delivery of quarterly business plan reviews to senior leaders
  • Development and delivery of presentations to UHC DAC (disciplinary action committee) as required
  • Development, execution, and analysis of monthly sales in conjunction with regional vice presidents and senior level market leaders
  • Manages relationships with clients as required, including remediation of growth-related issues, service or communication challenges or interpretation of federal or state regulations
  • Provides general direction and oversight on performance management issues nationally and serves as senior consultant for performance interventions
  • Leadership at cross functional meetings designed to develop strategy and measure impact of current initiatives
  • Monthly oversight of CRM process, including analysis of data to drive future initiatives
  • Continuous analysis of performance with redeployment of resources nationally to maximize opportunity
  • Oversight of monthly audit process

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years in sales or new business development leadership
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Extensive use of a CRM (Salesforce, Siebel, etc.)
  • Extensive national travel
  • Driver's License and access to a reliable transportation

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $130,000 - $240,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
