The Director, Product Management is a senior product leadership role responsible for defining and executing the strategic vision, organizational direction, and investment priorities for enterprise data products and platforms. This leader manages a team of Product Managers and Technical Product Managers while partnering with executive stakeholders across business, technology, analytics, operations, and architecture to establish a scalable, data-driven product ecosystem that enables growth, operational excellence, innovation, and improved customer outcomes.
The Director serves as a key member of the product leadership team, influencing enterprise strategy, portfolio investment decisions, organizational design, and talent development. This role is accountable for aligning product portfolios with business objectives, establishing product management disciplines and standards, and ensuring delivery of measurable business value across a broad set of data, analytics, AI, and platform capabilities.
Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, organizational influence, and the ability to develop high-performing teams while driving execution across large, matrixed organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Organizational Leadership and Talent Development
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, and product leaders
- Establish a high-performance, customer-focused product organization that promotes accountability, innovation, and operational excellence
- Define organizational goals, workforce strategies, succession planning, and talent development initiatives
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and outcome-based decision making
- Provide leadership coaching and establish best practices for product management disciplines across the organization
- Product Portfolio Strategy
- Define and execute the strategic vision for enterprise data products, analytics platforms, APIs, and data services
- Establish multi-year roadmaps and investment strategies aligned with business priorities and enterprise objectives
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and market opportunities to identify future growth areas
- Partner with senior executives to shape strategic priorities and translate business goals into scalable product investments
- Drive portfolio-level prioritization and resource allocation decisions to maximize business value and return on investment
- Enterprise Stakeholder Leadership
- Serve as the primary product leadership representative for data and analytics initiatives across the organization
- Build solid partnerships with executive leaders across technology, operations, analytics, finance, compliance, and business functions
- Influence organizational direction and gain alignment across complex stakeholder groups
- Communicate product strategy, investment rationale, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership
- Lead governance forums, strategic planning sessions, and portfolio reviews
- Data, Analytics and AI Enablement
- Establish the enterprise vision for data products, data monetization opportunities, analytics capabilities, and AI-enabled
Partner with architecture and engineering leaders to define modern data strategies and platform evolution - Champion data governance, quality, privacy, security, and compliance practices across product portfolios
- Drive adoption of advanced analytics, automation, and AI capabilities to improve business outcomes and customer experiences
- Ensure data assets are positioned as strategic enterprise capabilities rather than operational utilities
- Establish the enterprise vision for data products, data monetization opportunities, analytics capabilities, and AI-enabled
- Portfolio Delivery and Operational Excellence
- Provide oversight across multiple product initiatives and delivery teams
- Establish success metrics, performance indicators, and operating rhythms to measure organizational effectiveness
- Drive disciplined planning, prioritization, dependency management, and execution practices across portfolios
- Balance near-term business commitments with long-term strategic objectives
- Identify and mitigate strategic risks while ensuring delivery of committed business outcomes
- Business and Financial Leadership
- Develop business cases, investment strategies, funding proposals, and ROI analyses for strategic initiatives
- Manage portfolio budgets and investment planning activities
- Evaluate product performance, adoption, and financial outcomes to inform future investment decisions
- Drive value realization reporting and communicate business impact to executive stakeholders
- Partner with finance and business leaders to ensure alignment between strategic investments and organizational priorities
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 14+ years of Product Management, Technical Product Management, Data Product Management, or related leadership experience
- 5+ years leading product managers, technical product managers, or cross-functional product organizations
- Demonstrated experience defining and executing enterprise product strategies and multi-year roadmaps
- Experience leading large-scale cross-functional initiatives involving technology, Claims data, analytics, and operational organizations
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive strategic decision making
- Proven solid business acumen, organizational leadership, communication, and team development skills
- Experience managing complex portfolios, competing priorities, and enterprise-level dependencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading product organizations within healthcare, healthcare technology, analytics, payment integrity, claims processing, or population health
- Experience building and scaling enterprise data, analytics, AI, or platform product capabilities
- Experience with data governance, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Experience presenting strategy, investment recommendations, and business outcomes to executive leadership and senior governance bodies
- Knowledge of modern cloud-based data platforms, AI/ML ecosystems, and enterprise architecture principles
- Proven track record of developing high-performing product teams and leaders
