This position is a Senior Technical Writer/Consultant supporting the organization by providing leadership in knowledge design, content strategy, and complex documentation solutions. The Senior Technical Writer coordinates work with leaders and stakeholders to meet short term objectives, resolve operational problems, and recommend sustainable knowledge management solutions.
This role sets a higher expectation for enterprise ready, accessible, and machine consumable content. The Senior Technical Writer influences how content is structured, governed, and integrated with metadata, tagging, and taxonomy so knowledge can be reliably retrieved and used by people, search, and AI enabled experiences that depend on strong metadata signals.
The Senior Technical Writer operates with significant autonomy, leads complex initiatives, and mentors other writers to elevate standards and consistency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess and interpret customer needs; translate ambiguous requirements into scalable documentation and knowledge solutions
- Set priorities to ensure task completion; coordinate work activities with leadership and cross functional partners
- Lead planning to meet short term objectives; drive resolution of operational problems using defined processes, expertise, and judgment
- Lead documentation/process improvement initiatives, including support for migrations (e.g., KnowledgeNow) and complex content transformations
- Establish and reinforce standards for structured authoring, metadata, tagging, and taxonomy applications within assigned scope; identify systemic gaps and recommend governance improvements
- Ensure content is accessibility forward, aligning to enterprise accessibility standards advocating for accessible practices in templates/workflows
- Coach, guide, and support less experienced writers; review work for quality, structure, and readiness for multi channel/machine use
- Use data and facts to identify patterns and solve moderately complex problems; partner on customer satisfaction issues and quality councils/work groups
- Research and apply deep knowledge of business operations to influence decisions and support short and long term activities through knowledge assets
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent experience
- 5+ years working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- 3+ years business or technical writing experience
- 1+ years project management experience
- Proven excellent written/verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills; strong collaboration across levels
- Proven solid analytical/decision making skills; ability to work with minimal guidance on moderately complex analyses, proficient level in Lean and process mapping
