As an Associate Software Engineer specializing in WalkMe Digital Adoption, you will assist in building, testing, and supporting interactive digital adoption experiences that guide users across enterprise platforms. Working within Optum Technology, you will collaborate with software engineering teams, product owners, and business partners to build WalkMe guidance solutions, automate routine user tasks, and improve overall digital engagement. In this role, you will apply core web development skills, enterprise-approved AI platforms, and user analytics to deliver intuitive digital workflows and drive continuous software innovation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of WalkMe guidance solutions (Smart WalkThrus, Launchers, SmartTips, and ShoutOuts)
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
- Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement
- Utilize HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web APIs to customize WalkMe experiences and integrate with underlying web applications
- Review user analytics and engagement metrics to assist in identifying workflow pain points and optimizing guidance journeys
- Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to align WalkMe builds with technical standards and platform releases
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain solution quality, accessibility, and security compliance
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of software development or technology-related experience
- 2+ years of experience with web front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and DOM structure
- 2+ years of coursework, projects, or professional experience building WalkMe, digital adoption solutions, web applications, user interfaces, workflow automation tools, or other user enablement technologies
- Demonstrated exposure to using enterprise-approved AI tools or modern engineering automation to streamline tasks and development workflows
Preferred Qualifications:
- WalkMe Builder Certification or Digital Adoption Platform training
- Experience or familiarity with WalkMe platform tools (WalkMe Editor, Analytics, or ActionBot)
- Basic experience with REST APIs and browser debugging tools
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Familiarity with UI/UX design fundamentals and web accessibility standards (WCAG)
