An APM/Dynatrace Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the Dynatrace Application Performance Monitoring (APM) platform within an organization. This role ensures optimal monitoring, performance, and availability of applications, systems, and infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Platform Management:
    • Install, configure, and maintain the APM/Dynatrace platform, including updates and patches
    • Manage Dynatrace agents and ensure proper deployment across applications and infrastructure
    • Optimize and fine-tune the Dynatrace environment for performance and scalability
  • JMeter Tool Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain Apache JMeter and related plugins
    • Optimize JMeter tool settings for large-scale performance testing
    • Manage JMeter updates, patches, and add-ons to ensure compatibility and performance
  • Scripting & Troubleshooting:
    • Design, develop, and execute performance test scripts using JMeter for applications, APIs, and systems
    • Configure test plans to simulate load, stress, endurance, and scalability scenarios
    • Integrate JMeter with other tools like Jenkins, Grafana, or Influx DB for CI/CD pipelines and real-time monitoring
    • Write and debug JMeter test scripts for various protocols (HTTP, WebSocket, FTP, etc.)
    • Resolve technical issues related to JMeter execution or configuration
    • Implement various use cases of AI & Automation
  • Monitoring and Alerting:
    • Set up monitoring for applications, services, and infrastructure using APM/Dynatrace
    • Create and manage dashboards, reports, and custom alerts to meet business requirements
    • Implement synthetic monitoring for key transactions and services
  • Performance Management:
    • Analyze application performance data to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements
    • Collaborate with development and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and improve system performance
    • Analyze test results to identify bottlenecks, failures, and areas for optimization
  • Integration and Automation:
    • Integrate Dynatrace with other tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, ITSM platforms, and incident management systems. Use APIs, scripts, or tools to enhance the efficiency of JMeter testing processes
    • Automate routine tasks using APIs, scripts, or other tools to enhance efficiency
  • Incident Management:
    • Support incident detection and resolution using Dynatrace insights
    • Document root cause analyses (RCAs) and provide actionable recommendations for recurring issues
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards. JMeter configurations, scripts, and test results
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for APM/Dynatrace configurations, processes, and guidelines
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent degree
  • Hands-on experience with Dynatrace platform administration
  • Scripting experience in languages like Groovy, Java, or Python, AI & Copilot
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Shell for automation
  • Solid knowledge of performance testing methodologies and best practices
  • Basic Zabbix hands-on knowledge
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with protocols such as HTTP/S, REST, SOAP, JDBC, and Web Sockets
  • Proficiency in application monitoring, synthetic monitoring, and infrastructure monitoring
  • Proficiency in Apache JMeter & VuGen tool administration and performance testing
