This position will be on the OptumRx Logistics team supporting our various pharmacies across multiple business units.  You will be responsible for working with our carriers UPS, FedEx & USPS as well as couriers and third-party logistics providers.  You will use various metrics to lead projects that improve service and drive cost reduction.

Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM -4:00 PM or 8:00 AM -5:00 PM CST

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage OptumRx's largest carrier of The United Postal Service. This includes The USPS Consolidation program
  • Drive accountability and progress by hosting Quarterly Business Reviews with Leadership
  • Root cause issues that negatively impact service and cost through data analytics, site visits, process improvements, training, etc.
  • Make recommendations to leadership to remedy issues and be aggressive with driving the implementation of solutions in a timely manner
  • Establish cost and service goals for The USPS and regularly measure against those goals
  • Audit and Reconcile USPS and third-party vendors cost and service
  • Participate in contracting discussions to ensure business strategies are properly represented
  • Drive innovation with how we interact/leverage The USPS network
  • Attend industry events to gain a broader knowledge of The USPS's strategies, contacts, etc.
  • Escalate issues as required to ensure forward movement
  • Maintain project tracker of all ongoing work related to The USPS
  • Be the primary contact while managing the relationship with USPS and USPS consolidation including but not limited to projects, site visits, rate review, process improvement and cost management
  • Work with outside consultants to implement a broader vision of Optum Logistics
  • Support our Home Delivery, Specialty, Infusion, 340B, OSD, divvyDOSE and OFT business from a logistics perspective including shipping, receiving and transfers
  • Create and maintain BI reports where needed for various business units
  • Support courier initiatives including SLA's, reports and operational calls
  • Audit and approve vendor invoices
  • Serve as internal specialist in parcel, courier, full truckload and LTL
  • Be responsible for managing daily operational relationships with carriers and vendors
  • Create, document, and maintain new transportation related internal processes, training materials, and parcel carrier vendor standard operating procedures
  • Monitor parcel carrier vendor compliance with standard operating procedures and performance to established service levels
  • Create new metrics and goals related to transportation; communicate and publish metric results
  • Consult with pharmacies on strategies to improve transportation related metrics 
  • Pull and combine data from multiple sources and analyze to develop an understanding of carrier performance
  • Analyze datasets by region and carrier service level to identify pervasive parcel carrier service issues and other opportunities for improvement
  • Summarize findings and recommendations from analysis and communicate clearly to various teams
  • Address service issues with transportation vendors and hold vendor counterparts accountable for root cause analysis and issue resolution
  • Plan and successfully conduct cross-functional meetings
  • Set up new pharmacy accounts with parcel carrier vendors as the business grows and expands
  • Back up and assist other team members as needed
  • Work other projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Receive DOT/IATA Hazmat Certification and assist with drug classification
  • 5+ years of supply chain and logistics experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
  • Extensive working experience with variable data sources
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally & ethically within the company and with suppliers
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work tasks and solve the most pressing problems with a sense of urgency 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous logistics experience and familiarity with parcel carrier operations specifically USPS
  • Proficiency in MS PowerBI
  • Experience writing basic SQL queries
  • Experience delivering presentations to groups of individuals
  • Previous experience with vendor management
  • Ability to approach and manage projects and priorities in an organized and structured manner

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
