This is a fully remote position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday during daytime business hours, generally 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM Central Time (schedule subject to change based on business needs).


To qualify for a remote work arrangement, California-based employees must possess and maintain unrestricted pharmacist licenses in both California and North Carolina.  Candidates residing in California who do not meet this licensure requirement will be required to work from the company's Cypress, California office and will not be eligible for remote work.  Candidates residing in California must be able to work from the following location:  5701 Katella Ave, Cypress, CA 90630.


OptumRx is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our Home Delivery team. In this remote role, you will engage directly with members and healthcare providers to improve medication adherence, optimize therapy outcomes, and enhance the overall member experience. This position combines clinical expertise, patient consultation, and population health initiatives in a fast-paced, call center environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct telephonic outreach with members to improve health quality outcomes and medication adherence
  • Engage members regarding pharmacy STAR measures and identify barriers to medication compliance
  • Provide medication counseling and education to support positive health outcomes
  • Enroll eligible members in auto-refill and other adherence support programs
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacies, and healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy
  • Perform Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services, including comprehensive medication reviews
  • Respond to drug information requests from members and providers
  • Assess customer needs and identify appropriate solutions to non-standard requests and issues
  • Manage pharmacy-related projects from initiation through completion
  • Conduct research, analysis, and problem-solving related to moderately complex clinical and operational issues
  • Accurately document and track member interactions and interventions

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or PharmD
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of residence
  • Active pharmacist licenses in: 
    • Arizona (AZ)
    • Kansas (KS)
    • Texas (TX)
    • North Carolina (NC - for California remote eligibility)
  • 3+ years of experience as a licensed pharmacist
  • 3+ years of patient consultation experience
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications
  • Demonstrated solid verbal communication and patient counseling skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Retail pharmacy and/or mail-order pharmacy experience
  • Medication Therapy Management (MTM) experience
  • Experience working in medication adherence or population health programs
  • Experience in a call center or telephonic patient care environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44 - $79 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
