At OptumRx, a part of the UnitedHealth Group family of businesses, we're redefining specialty pharmacy care by enabling pharmacists to connect with patients beyond a traditional retail or hospital setting. This role provides an opportunity to deliver personalized clinical support and education to patients receiving specialty medications, helping them navigate complex therapies and achieve the best possible outcomes. Through collaboration with patients, providers, and pharmacy teams, you will play a key role in supporting the specialty medication journey.

This is a fully remote position - Monday through Friday daytime hours (generally 8:00am - 5:30pm CDT, subject to change).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct patient consultations related to specialty medication therapies
• Complete Medication Therapy Management (MTM) calls and clinical assessments
• Review formulary changes and support medication transitions due to insurance or coverage changes
• Collaborate with patients, prescribers, manufacturers, and pharmacy teams to support continuity of care
• Document patient interactions, therapy adherence, and medication-related concerns
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies
• Support quality assurance and patient care improvement initiatives

Success in this role requires solid clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build meaningful patient relationships in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree
• Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license
• 2+ years of pharmacist experience preferably in specialty pharmacy, retail pharmacy, ambulatory care, managed care, or a related clinical setting
• Proven solid patient counseling and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• PharmD
• Specialty pharmacy experience
• Experience providing telephonic patient care, medication counseling, or clinical consultations
• Call center or high-volume patient outreach experience
• Experience collaborating with providers and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44 - $79 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
