This position is Onsite. Our office is located at Owensboro Regional Hospital at 1201 Pleasant Valley Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303.

Opportunities at Owensboro Health, in strategic partnership with Optum. Our team of talented people works to improve the health outcomes of the communities we serve. As an Optum employee, you will provide support to the Owensboro health account. They are a nonprofit system with over 200 providers at more than 20 locations, 3 outpatient facilities, a certified medical fitness facility, a surgical weight loss center and the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center. This position is full-time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours on a per diem basis, up to 24 hours / week, (We currently have 4 shifts - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, 11:00 am - 7:30 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, and 11:00 pm - 7:30 am EST). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. Ability to train on a full-time basis for the first four weeks, however schedule is flexible.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receives and relays internal and external calls and provides general information
  • Operates telephone software applications to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls
  • Operates the computerized system for patient transport including answering calls, entering information into patient transport system, assigning Ambassadors, and clearing the task when complete
  • Dispatches patient transport and security staff as needed to the correct direction including the use of proper radio etiquette to ensure accuracy
  • Maintains desk directories, on-call list, reference guides, and other associated reference materials
  • Receives and accurately prioritizes; distributes phone calls to providers and nursing staff as needed
  • Communicates codes, alerts, drills, and other announcements according to established policies and protocols including disaster management plans
  • Proficient in all software applications specific to the Communications Department
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion to ensure equipment is functional
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • Experience with computers and Windows PC applications, including the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to work onsite at Owensboro Regional Hospital at 1201 Pleasant Valley Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303.

  • Ability to work full-time. Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
  • Health care experience  

Soft Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, build rapport and respond to customers in a compassionate manner
  • Proficient conflict management skills to resolve issues in a stressful situation 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
