The Sr. Manager of Accounting - Corporate Finance will be responsible for the accounting team adhering to reporting policies and procedures.  The Sr. Manager will be responsible for the routine accounting and reporting for the Medicare Advantage Plan, KSMG and KSMS.  The accounting responsibilities include both GAAP and statutory accounting as defined by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). This position will be responsible for internal financial reporting and external financial reporting as required by the NAIC and the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and GAAP. This position will be responsible for overseeing the KSPA, KCA, KSMG and KSMS financial and TDI audits. This position will oversee all tax related matters for KSPA and KCA. The position will be responsible for continuously reviewing internal controls and recommending improvements to the existing system of internal controls.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Controller with leading Routine monthly accounting close including reviewing journal entries prepared by accounting staff, review general ledger activity and account reconciliations
  • Quarterly and annual external reporting to NAIC and TDI
  • Manage and develop staff to help achieve department objectives including setting goals, providing ongoing performance feedback and annual performance evaluations Continuously review and evaluate departmental staffing need and staff skill mix Propose changes as needed
  • Continuously review and update accounting-related policies and procedures to assure the accurate and timely reporting of financial results  Propose and implement changes, as necessary Ensure accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and NAIC Statutory accounting principles
  • Coordination of GAAP and Statutory annual external audit
  • Preparation of schedules for annual CMS bid submission
  • Preparation of schedules for annual budget
  • Collaborate and contribute to the enterprise strategic growth
  • Research and resolve accounting and business issues, including the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
  • Identify critical issues and trends and alert senior management to issues that impact financial performance and/or integrity of the financial statements
  • Partner with Controller to determine accounting and tax implications for all material business matters Other duties and responsibilities and special projects as directed by Controller, and as determined to be necessary by the employee's own initiative
  • Manage staff to execute initiatives for strategic growth

Required Qualifications:

  • B.B.A.
  • 7+ years of supervisory or management experience; can include HMO accounting and reporting for a Texas HMO equals 3-4 years
  • C.P.A.
  • In-depth knowledge of NAIC statutory accounting policies and practices and NAIC and TDI reporting requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting polices and practices
  • Ability to prepare financial statements reports and projections
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement to executive leadership
  • Physician practice management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.B.A.
  • Medicare Advantage HMO accounting and reporting experience
  • Big Four Public Accounting Experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
