The Mammography Technologist positions patients to ensure that the best images of breast tissue are achieved. The Technologist must have solid, customer service and interpersonal skills including empathy, compassion and professional interactions with patients, customers and co-workers. Uses reasonable independent judgment and decision making skills to carry out established procedures. Good working knowledge of MQSA, ACR and FDA standards as they relate to mammography.

Job Relationships:

Reports directly to the Radiology Supervisor and indirectly to the Director of Operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May be assigned to help orient and/or train newly hired technologists.

Primary Responsibilities:

The following are exemplary essential job duties and responsibilities and are not intended to represent an all-inclusive listing of related essential functions of the position

  • Performs mammography, general radiography and assists the radiologist in the performance of fluoroscopic procedures
  • Utilizes accurate and precise positioning, technique selection, and radiation protection (coning and shielding), keeps the radiation exposure levels As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)
  • Maintaining personal repeat rate at a minimum (< 5% per year), and being ready to provide reasonable support for, or plan of corrective action
  • Radiologic technologists must follow physicians' orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their coworkers from unnecessary exposure.  If the order indicates discrepancies, such as correct side or anatomical part, it is ultimately the responsibility of the technologist to verify the order's accuracy before proceeding
  • Consistently uses "Personal Markers" for correct anatomical orientation on all images and ensures accurate and full patient and procedure identification on all images
  • Keeps work area(s) neat, clean, orderly and meets the body fluid precaution criteria and participates in keeping other areas of the department/facility clean and unobstructed
  • Performs as necessary or assigned clerical duties. Uses Epic Systems and Synapse PACS to document correct and accurate patient information. Timely tracks procedure to completion for accurate billing and study is sent to radiologists for reading
  • Assists patients in preparation for procedures as necessary, accurately sets up rooms and equipment, accessories, and supplies for exams
  • Contributes to the efficient operation of the department through the effective and knowledgeable use of the equipment, ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care
  • Assists in the orientation and training of personnel as required within his/her scope of training and certification
  • Assists and participates with QA/QC/PI (Quality assurance/Quality Control/Process Improvement) efforts
  • Alerts Supervisor of any equipment or process failures or performance issues in a timely manner
  • Participate in cost saving/cost avoidance efforts
  • Covers necessary staffing at other facility sites as indicated

May be assigned special project or other assignments and work tasks that are generally within the scope and level of the position, and relative to the need for flexible Company operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a training program in Radiologic Technology and successful completion of Mammography training
  • CRT certification with the State of California Department of Public Health/Radiologic Health Branch for Radiography Fluoroscopy, and Mammography Certifications, ARRT (R)(M).  
  • BLS certification
  • Valid California driver's license required and insurability under the company's insurance carrier standards as applicable to job requirements

Preferred Qualification:

  • 2+ years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology and 1+ years of experience in Mammography

Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of these positions.

  • Operate all imaging equipment using proper technique
  • Operate all processing equipment using proper technique
  • Demonstrate ability to operate and train staff on all equipment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29.00 - $52.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
