The Echocardiograph Technologist performs non-invasive cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist providers in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions. This role supports Optum's commitment to quality, affordability, and patient-centered care through accurate diagnostic imaging and compassionate clinical interaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform transthoracic echocardiograms and related non-invasive cardiac studies according to established protocols
  • Prepare patients, explain procedures, and obtain relevant clinical history
  • Acquire high-quality diagnostic images and measurements for physician interpretation
  • Monitor patient status during procedures and report abnormalities promptly
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and procedure documentation
  • Ensure proper use, care, and basic troubleshooting of echocardiography equipment
  • Comply with Optum policies, HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and patient safety standards
  • Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, clinical staff, and operations teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology or graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) credential
  • New Jersey does not require state licensure for diagnostic cardiac sonographers. National registry credentials (ARDMS or CCI) are required for this role
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Knowledge of adult cardiac anatomy and echocardiographic techniques
  • Proficiency with electronic health records

Preferred Qualification:

  • 2+ years of echocardiography experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and assist patients with positioning

NJ Licensing Note

New Jersey does not require state licensure for diagnostic cardiac sonographers. National registry credentials (ARDMS or CCI) are required for this role

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $28.94 to $51.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
