Upon the order of a qualified physician, the Lead MRI Technologist will utilize equipment, which utilizes high field magnetic energy to obtain images for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Medical Imaging Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Imaging services vary by location, therefore, performance of certain MR and MRA exams may be required depending on assigned site. The Lead MRI Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties
Primary Responsibilities:
- 30% Performs diagnostic MRI exams according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Medical Imaging department. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of MRI images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting final product. Understands age related communication needs of patients and can effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate the performance of MRI studies
- 15% Participates in Technical Quality Control measures, which include performance of routine equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions or variances in equipment performance to the Medical Imaging Department Supervisor or his/her designee in the supervisor's absence. Maintains necessary supplies and documentation of cleaning and QC logs as applicable
10% Uses RIS system correctly, according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents, for the radiologist's review, atypical conditions, which could affect image quality and/or content. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Medical Imaging Supervisor or Medical Imaging Manager when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist - 15% Conscious of MRI safety measures and demonstrates competence in the selection and use of appropriate imaging coils for MRI and selects appropriate scanning parameters to maximize patient safety in MRI as is age and anatomically appropriate for the patient. Utilizes sterile technique when necessary and maintains competency in venipuncture technique as it applies to administration of IV contrast
- 5% Participates in formal and in-service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site-specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by the supervisor to perform those duties
- 5% Interacts effectively with patients and coworkers, including staff assigned to other locations. Communicates readily and well with Supervisor, Manager, and Radiologists in giving and receiving feedback. Must have the ability to understand and respond to questions by giving factual information. Capable of dealing effectively with other clinic departments, physicians, and staff. Uses the Mission, and Values as a guideline for all communications, verbal, written, or electronic
- 15% Gives input to Medical Imaging Supervisor concerning room and staff schedules. Provides comments and observations regarding team members' performance, conduct, and skills to the Supervisor during annual performance evaluations. Functions as the team leader and as such, serve as the primary resource for other MR technologists for matters related to complex imaging questions, RIS issues and PACS issues. Actively works to create a team environment and seeks opportunities to enhance team development
- 5% Participated in the selection of candidates for vacant MRI positions and upon hire will provide the primary technical training and orientation to MR scanning protocols and processes. Provide training feedback to the Medical Imaging Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a program approved by the credentialing body for the required associated license(s)
- BLS certification through American Heart Association
- 5+ years of experience in MRI or 3+ years of KSC MRI experience
ARRT-MR - Radiologic Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT) -- For no experience OR ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist -- For no experience OR CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure -- For no experience - ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer (ARRT) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR ARRT-N - Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Tech (ARRT) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR ARRT-SON - Radiologic Technologist - Sonography (ARRT) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience. RDMS certified as an Ultrasound Technologist OR CNMT - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience
- Proven ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition, venipuncture
- Proven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- RT(R)(MR)(CT)
- Experience performing MRA, Prostate and Breast imaging
- Experience on a high field 3T magnet
- PACS and RIS experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft word and Excel
- Proven bi-lingual or multi-lingual
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $28.94 to $51.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
