Location: Colonial Healthcare, a part of Optum - 325 Broad St., Sumter, SC

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm. (Employee will need to be flexible on end of shift time if patient(s) is still in office.) 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately documenting medical history, and patient forms information for the provider 
  • Intake of Vitals (B/P, Height, Weight, Glucose, HR, BMI) 
  • Education to patients on procedure, treatment, medications and assisting with questions from the Annual Wellness Packet.  
  • Maintain patient confidentiality on all encounters (HIPPA). 
  • Partner with other departments to facilitate quality of care (radiology, lab, pharmacy, nuclear medicine etc.) 
  • Other duties as assigned such as new models of quality care and value if they are due for any testing they inform the provider etc
  • Schedule patients for follow up/lab appointments   
  • Scan in patient information/ documents  
  • Maintain clinical compliant logs for Practice Health & Safety  
  • Assisting providers by closing care gaps on Optum ProPortal, Cozeva and other insurance requirements i.e. (BCBS, Humana, Aetna, etc. as plans and value grow.)  
  • Float to other clinics as needed 
  • Cross training on Nurses Station, Lab, Front Desk and Scribe 
  • Proactively identity any safety concerns to Site Manager 
  • Train other clinical staff on job duties

Required Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent- Required  
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)/ Certified Residential Medical Aide (CRMA)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer 1-2 years working in a healthcare setting  
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations including OSHA and HIPAA requirements. 
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems (EMR) used in clinical management settings. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology  


Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
