Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic market-based projects and initiatives as identified within the market, examples include:
    • Market specific detailed planning and ongoing updates to these plans; per market covering $1B+ in annual revenue, 5k+ clients, and $1B+ TCV growth
    • Refine capital investment plans in collaboration with product and operations leaders, ongoing engagement on outcomes of capital achievement plans
    • Develop and engage across all market teams on MBO target setting, path to achieve, hold market accountable to achievement
  • Identify market opportunities and engage with executive leadership to act on these opportunities - deep understanding of players, trends, competitors/vendors in seat for key offerings across the market
  • Acting COO of the Provider Solution Sales Organization, serving as a point of escalation for market teams with internal executive leaders (GL 32+/SLT) across operations, product, growth office, and marketing areas of the organization
  • Provide thought partnership and strategic/tactical leadership to the SVP Sales OI Provider Market and other Senior Leaders around standup and ongoing/steady-state optimization of Sales Organization 
  • Build relationships, drive day-to-day activities across the Solution Sales Organization to identify and resolve risks/opportunities in growth strategy, talent/resourcing gaps, operational improvement gaps and opportunities 
  • Serve as a leadership connection point between Solution Sales-based needs and priorities with central/national "HQ" owners/leaders as well as Market and EPP Leadership
  • Proactively identify opportunities for 'standard operating procedure' development and support redefining the Provider Solution Sales GTM Process
  • Lead team members across the matrix to develop approaches that increase the value we provide and increase the impact Optum has on the client's business
  • Engage across regions to identify and address thematic issues and initiatives
  • Engage across the market to cross-share client issues, growth opportunities, and build initiatives list to increase overall performance of the market teams
  • Driving outcomes with internal matrix business stakeholders across Optum to ensure customer centricity, high NPS scores and renewal rates, delivery against customer needs and expectations, profitable growth, and representation for the voice of the customer in our current and future products and technologies
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
  • Effectively represent Our United Culture and demonstrates UHG values internally and externally

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in some combination of sales/sales enablement and/or account management and/or consulting and/or P&L management experience 
  • 5+ years of experience working with clients; building client relationships, issue management and resolution, client communication 
  • Proven experience and expertise in healthcare, particularly with providers/ payviders
  • Proven exceptional communication, critical thinking, leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated success in managing within a matrix environment - driving accountability and influencing within direct and indirect/matrixed spheres of control
  • Interest in, and demonstrated experience with, process improvement and methodology development


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in human capital/people management, budgeting, project management, operations and strategy 
  • Experience supporting Optum Markets (Payers, Employers, Providers, Federal/State government, Emerging Markets) or Product Organization
  • Experience working across UHG, Optum and/or UHC lines of businesses
  • Experiences across Analytics, Care Continuum Delivery, ITO and Revenue Cycle services for Providers
  • Direct experience working with product and technology teams
  • P&L experience
  • Proficient skills and knowledge of servant leadership, resilience, resourcefulness, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Proven application of change management methodologies

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Have ability to foster a cooperative work environment and deal proactively and productively with conflict
  • Ability to influence a senior leadership team, build consensus, and rally members to achieve results
  • Engaged with the broader organization and able to gain insights through relationships with front-line and mid-level personnel

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
