UMR, the largest Third-Party Administrator and part of UnitedHealthcare, is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support an analytics portfolio transforming operations. This role will focus on developing business intelligence solutions, analyzing claims and operational data, identifying trends and performance drivers, and ensuring high data quality to support AI-enabled decision systems. The Senior Data Analyst will partner closely with business leaders, product teams, and technology teams to structure data, develop analytical models, and deliver insights that inform operational improvements across claims adjudication, payment integrity, and process automation initiatives. The role also requires experience working with modern cloud data platforms and supporting data science and machine learning initiatives.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain business intelligence tools, dashboards, and data visualizations that support AI-enabled claims operations initiatives
  • Conduct exploratory and descriptive analyses to identify operational patterns, performance trends, and improvement opportunities within claims processing workflows
  • Design and implement data normalization and transformation processes to ensure data from multiple operational systems can be integrated into a consistent structure
  • Create data specifications, semantic layers, and analytical models that support the integration and use of data across analytics and machine learning products
  • Develop and manage analytical datasets within modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and other enterprise data warehouses
  • Build scalable data pipelines and curated analytical datasets to support reporting, advanced analytics, and machine learning workflows
  • Perform quantitative analyses using claims, operational, and financial data to support business case development and value realization tracking
  • Translate analytical findings into clear insights, recommendations, and presentations for business and operational leaders
  • Partner with stakeholders across claims operations, payment integrity, product, and technology teams to understand data requirements and develop analytical tools
  • Build segmentation models, operational dashboards, decision-support tools, and analytical frameworks to support operational improvement initiatives
  • Support feature engineering, data preparation, and validation activities for machine learning models used in operational decision systems
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, governance, and quality across datasets used in analytical, reporting, and machine learning solutions
  • Produce and manage delivery of activity metrics and value analytics used to track performance of AI-enabled initiatives
  • Support data preparation and analytical insights used to guide operational improvements including cycle time reduction, auto-adjudication rate improvements, and payment accuracy
  • Use business intelligence, query, statistical, and visualization tools to build analytical solutions and interpret operational data

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles
  • Experience working with healthcare payer data such as claims, eligibility, provider, or operational datasets
  • Experience with SQL and data querying tools for extracting and manipulating large datasets
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, or similar enterprise data environments
  • Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Experience performing descriptive analytics, regression-based analysis, and trend analysis to support business decision-making
  • Experience preparing datasets for machine learning models and working alongside data science teams
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including operations, product, data science, and technology
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights for business stakeholders
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without any restrictions.  Proof will be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with healthcare claims operations, payment integrity analytics, or healthcare pricing data
  • Familiarity with enterprise data warehouses and healthcare data structures used in payer organizations
  • Experience supporting analytics for operational transformation, automation, or AI-enabled initiatives
  • Experience building analytical models for segmentation, operational performance measurement, or business case evaluation
  • Exposure to machine learning techniques such as classification, clustering, predictive modeling, or anomaly detection in operational datasets
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims lifecycle including adjudication, edits, adjustments, and payment workflows
  • Experience working in cloud-based data ecosystems integrating BI, data engineering, and machine learning workloads
  • Solid data modeling, data normalization, and dimensional modeling experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
