Reporting to the Optum Health’s East Region People Team, the Tri-State VP People Leader serves as a key leader to help create the Optum Health Tri-State deliver a wide range of people priorities, including culture building, workforce strategy, organization effectiveness, talent agenda, leadership bench strength, and employee experience.

 

This role is expected to be located at one of our offices within the Tri-State region of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut

  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Team & Function Leadership: Coaching and development of team and broader People Team community
  • Consulting & Coaching: Partner with People team leaders to develop and design strategies aligned with business outcomes; serve as trusted advisor to Human Capital leadership team including C-suite
  • Organizational Development: Uses a consulting framework to improve the health and effectiveness of the organization through various methods, tools and techniques impacting business results.  Examples including organization design, change enablement and leadership, workforce planning, effective leadership, and coaching.
  • Data and Analytics:  Leverages data and analytic skills to drive decision making and action.  Designs, develops and deploys solutions through on-going analysis and tying multiple data sets together to recommend action aligned with business strategies.
  • Talent Management: Understands the organizational talent strategy, talent plans and supply chain of internal and external talent.  Drives talent strategy and plans by applying talent acquisition, workforce planning, total rewards and inclusion and diversity practices to drive talent outcomes.
  • Culture and Employee Experience:  Deep understanding of culture and the drivers impacting a positive employee experience. Fosters practices to create and maintain a positive, rewarding, and inclusive environment.  Works to drive cultural changes and shifts to meet the evolution of our business
  • Business Fluency: General understanding of business unit operations across the enterprise in order to influence effective Human Capital organization design and strategies; ensures operational rigor of key People Team initiatives.
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Integrates, aligns, and embeds diversity, equity and inclusion strategies within all aspects of People Team Work
  • M&A/Integrations: Evaluate and design strategies and implement plans for People Team professionals, to ensure realization of M&A and integration value
  • Change Champion: Advocate and support the evolution of the People Team function, driving the transformation of the operating model and influencing changes in the way human capital solutions are designed and delivered to the businesses

Required Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years’ experience in Strategy, Human Resources, or HR Centers of Excellence 
  • 8+ years’ experience influencing senior level leaders on their decisions and approach
  • 8+ years’ experience demonstrated analytical capabilities within talent management
  • 8+ years’ experience demonstrating critical thinking, project, process, and change management
  • Experience with a large, complex organization
  • Strong influence, communication (written and oral) skills, and emotional intelligence
  • Strong consultative skills with the ability to partner with executive business leaders and advise them on people matters to achieve business outcomes
  • Ability to serve as change champion while assisting driving the business transformation of our businesses

Preferred Qualifications:   

  • Process or design thinking experience
  • Organizational savvy with ability to sort through complexities and synthesize information rapidly
  • Passionate about experimenting with new ways of working to shift the talent approach and bring to life enterprise talent principles
  • Prior HR/People Team experience working within healthcare delivery organizations

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $188,000 to $357,600 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
